Kolsås water reservoir
In harmony with nature
A new water reservoir is to be established at Kolsås, including a high reservoir with a new waterway in the protected area east of Kolsås ski center, which is located outside Oslo. The design consciously harmonizes with the surroundings, and the location has been chosen to minimize the impact on the terrain.

The solutions take into account visual impacts both near and far. Large parts of the high reservoir are integrated into the terrain, and only the most necessary functions, such as the entrance, are exposed. Natural and local materials are used with a focus on sustainability and the environment. The building volume is covered with green roofs that extend the natural surroundings. Construction elements are planned with low-carbon concrete, and the facades are made with gabion walls of local stone and wood cladding.
A feasibility study, sketch project – development of concepts for alternative locations and a preliminary project for regulation have been carried out in collaboration with Multiconsult AS.
