Re:LINK

LINK's test environments for sustainable interiors

The pilot project "Re:LINK" is about exploring new methods for environmentally and socially sustainable interior design. As interior designers, we have the opportunity to learn from our environments.

Two of the meeting rooms at LKINK's Stockholm office were selected as test environments and the existing furnishings were evaluated by the staff and visitors.

One room for creativity and another for reflection

In the next step of the project, one of the rooms was transformed into a room that would stimulate higher energy levels, movement, and creativity. In contrast, the second room was transformed into a relaxing meeting room with lounge furniture, dim lighting, and a calm atmosphere for reflection. All furnishings used during this test period had either been recycled or borrowed.

One step further away from conventional meeting rooms

After a period, new test environments were created where we went a step further away from conventional meeting room furnishings. One room had the walls painted in a light green colour and equipped with a treadmill and vegetation. The second room was decorated with straw sacks filled with pellets and textiles of fabric scraps and light strings on the ceiling.

By testing, measuring, and evaluating new ideas before they become finished projects, we develop new way of working. Through playfulness and different sensory impressions in different environments, we can facilitate creativity and new ways of thinking. The project was a valuable experience for both employees and customers.
